The Full Story
A Legacy Built on Family & Tradition
The Carrieri-Russo name has been part of the pizza world for more than half a century. It all began in 1961, when their grandfather, Italo Carrieri-Russo, opened his first pizzeria in Long Island, New York. Decades of growth followed as the family expanded across the tri-state area. By stretching their reach from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and to Delaware, they built a reputation defined by consistency, quality, and an unwavering work ethic.
Vincenza and Margherita grew up inside that world. Their childhood memories are tied to the family’s pizzeria, where their father, Vincenzo Carrieri-Russo Sr., worked tirelessly every day. It was there they mastered more than just the art of pizza; they learned the true essence of running a business
“Our father didn’t just teach us how to make pizza,” Vincenza says. “He taught us how to be women in business, how to lead, and how to do it well.”
Today, that legacy continues at V&M Bistro, where the entire family still plays a role. From their father in the kitchen as Executive Chef to their brothers supporting operations and their mother holding everything together, V&M remains what it has always been at its core: a family business.

A Dynamic Team: The Sisters
While deeply rooted in tradition, Vincenza and Margherita bring a dynamic, modern energy to the Bistro.
Both graduates of the University of Delaware, the sisters have built distinguished careers that extend far beyond the kitchen. Vincenza, a former Miss Delaware USA and community leader, co-founded the nonprofit Success Won’t Wait, Inc. to promote regional literacy; at the restaurant, she translates that same visionary leadership into overseeing front-of-house operations and driving the brand’s marketing strategy. Margherita’s expertise is equally vast, rooted in a lifelong passion for the arts as a classically trained dancer, opera singer, and mentor to young performers. She brings that stage-worthy flair to the culinary world, where her skills range from artisan baking to her famously creative homemade boozy ice cream. Whether crafting savory dishes or producing high-impact special events, Vincenza & Margherita’s artistic eye is the driving force behind the restaurant’s signature experiences
Together, they have created a partnership built on balance.
“We’ve always worked well together,” Vincenza says. “We understand each other’s strengths and how to support one another. We truly are a team.”
In an industry still largely dominated by men, the sisters have carved out their own space, leading with confidence, creativity, beauty, and a deep respect for the craft they were raised in.
More Than a Meal, It’s an Experience
Since opening in 2014, V&M Bistro has become known not just for its food, but for the experience it creates.
The menu reflects the family’s roots, with fresh pastas and breads made in-house daily and recipes inspired by the idea of “cooking like Nonna.” At the same time, the Bistro brings a modern edge through its cocktail program, curated wine selections, and vibrant atmosphere.
The space itself is designed to feel both elevated and welcoming, blending the energy of a New York-style dining experience with the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant.
But what truly sets V&M apart is the attention to detail.
From personalized celebrations and custom menus to thoughtful service and meaningful touches, every guest experience is intentionally crafted. Whether it’s date night, a family dinner, or a milestone event, the goal remains the same: to make every visit feel extraordinary.
“Our guests become part of our family,” Margherita says. “We care about their moments just as much as they do.”
Built on family, driven by passion, and led by two sisters who never stopped believing in the power of a shared table.
We hope to welcome you soon.
